Bengaluru: Biker dies in head-on collision, two injured

Bengaluru: A biker died and two others, including a 10-year-old girl, were injured when two bikes collided head on in Cubbon Park traffic police station limits on Tuesday evening. The accident happened near Fish Canteen around 6 pm, when one of the bikers was trying to overtake a car.

The police have identified the deceased as Shahid Irshad, a resident of KG Halli and hailing from Vellore in Tamil Nadu. He was working in a private company as billing assistant.

The injured are Krishnamurthy, 48, and his daughter, Shreya, a fifth standard student. Both are currently being treated in St. Martha’s hospital and said to be out of danger.

Krishnamurthy’s wife, who was also riding pillion, had a miraculous escape.

Police said that Krishnamurthy, a businessman and a resident of Avenue Road had gone to pick his daughter from the school along with his wife. The accident took place while the three were returning home.

Shahid tried to overtake a car from the right and collided head on with Krishnamurthy’s bike. Shahid sustained severe head injury and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, where he succumbed.

Police said that Krishnamurthy and Shreya sustained fractures on their hands and legs and are currently being treated. The Cubbon Park traffic police have registered a case and alerted Shahid’s family members.
