Panchayat Wiki to ease lag
MALAPPURAM: The Panchayat department has launched 'Panchayat Wiki', an online platform to keep administrative officials and the public updated with laws, amendments in the laws, rules and regulations which enable them to serve the public without delays. The public will also get various kinds of forms related to the Panchayat, block panchayat and district panchayat affairs.
www.panchayatwiki.com is a repository of relevant documents related to the three- tier panchayat administrations which can easily be accessed by officials, elected representatives and the public for quick reference and to get updated with the latest changes in the particular laws and rules related to the panchayats.
Panchayat Wiki is a project designed by panchayat officials and techies who are part of the open software movement. Several forms available in the website are in Libre office files. Libre Office is an open word processing application.
The department has also launched a Grama Sabha portal which enables the public to keep an eye on happenings and developments of grama sabhas in their native ward from around the world. They can also put their opinions and chat with ward members and officials through this portal. The portal will update all the details of grama Sabha meetings. The discussions and decisions of the meetings can be viewed by all and have options to express opinion and suggestions on developmental plans directly to the ward members. Both the portals were launched by Minister for local self government, Dr. K.T Jaleel at Perithalmanna on Monday as part of state-level panchayat day celebrations.
