MADURAI: Actor Kamal Haasan arrived to a hero's welcome at the Madurai airport as hundreds of fans and supporters gathered to greet him on his political journey set to begin from this temple town on Wednesday. People from all age groups — men, women and children alike — thronged the arrival area of the airport at around noon soon after a commercial flight in which Kamal was a passenger touched down at Madurai. Many shouted slogans praising Kamal's political plunge while children held placards that welcomed the versatile actor into politics.
The actor, immediately after landing in Madurai, took the road to Rameswaram where he will begin his day on Wednesday by paying a visit to the residence of late president A P J Abdul Kalam. At several places, Kamal humbly accepted greetings from people who gathered on both sides of the highway connecting Madurai with Rameswaram.
“I came here just to have a glimpse of actor Kamal. I am enthused by his political journey since I consider him a welcome change from the current lot. Not just because he is sensible, but he is quite outspoken on almost all issues that concerns the people,” software professional Naveen said.
