Hyderabad Metro Rail delays discussed at state level meeting
Hyderabad: Extension for the deadline of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) from August 2018, as fixed earlier, was discussed at a state level meeting with L and T Metro Rail and government departments on Monday evening. The extension is being evaluated as the further works from MGBS bus station to Old City have to be worked out.
Managing director of HMR N.V.S Reddy said, “It’s a huge project and there are various contractual obligations hence discussions are being carried out. It is not possible to comment at this stage.”
The earlier deadline for completion of the project was July 5, 2017 which was extended to August 2018 and there is a further extension being demanded.
The agenda for the meeting was fixed by HMR, according to sources, where they stated that the extension for the deadline of the project was discussed with L and T Metro Rail and senior officers in the government. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had, in December 2016, indicated that Metro Corridor-1 from Miyapur to LB Nagar should be completed by November 2017 giving indications of commercial operations during that time. There is still no clarity on Nagole to Begumpet stretch as the works near Iskcon temple, Oliphanta rail over bridge are going to take time and till that stretch is completed it will not be opened.
