Warangal: Jatara a big success, hassle-free darshan
Warangal: Devotees who came in large numbers to Medaram to witness one of the biggest congregations in Asia were all praise for the district administration ensuring the devotees have hassle free darshan of Sammakka and Saralamma. The state government has taken this as a challenge and a matter of prestige as the jatara is the first after Telangana state formation.
Be it the transport, sanitation or widespread arrangements, the devotees expressed satisfaction and happiness for being able to seek blessings of the tribal deities without any hassles exce-pt for having to wait in long queues in view of the huge turnout of devotees.
Especially, collector Vakati Karuna, SP Ambar Kishor Jha and Endowments minister Indrakaran Reddy camped in the village and to oversee the proceedings till the end. At a point, the collector herself took a cane and stood near the temple controlling the crowd.
“The steps taken for maintaining sanitation is really appreciable, we could see the sanitation workers everywhere picking up garbage and maintaining cleanliness. The situation in the previous years was horrible with filth everywhere because of the huge arrival of devotees here. There were large numbers of police personnel everywhere guiding us and there were enough buses to travel. There was no traffic problem anywhere while coming here,” said Satish, who visited Medaram with his family from Shivanagar.
Expecting an increased turnout at Medaram, superintendent of police Ambar Kishor Jha created a one-way route for entry and exit to avoid congestion of vehicular traffic, even though the devotees returning from Medaram had to travel an extra 16 km, smooth flow of traffic was made possible. Also the decision by the endowments department to do away with tickets helped devotees have hassle-free darshan.
The officials took their previous experiences of conducting the jatara and made arrangements accordingly to ensure an event-free fair.
The crowd managing volunteers, police personnel and other officials worked round the clock for these four days winning praise.
