Cash-for-vote case: Ill' Jerusalem Mathaiah avoids Telangana ACB summons

Hyderabad: Jerusalem Mathaiah, an accused in the cash-for-vote case, got himself admitted in a private hospital at Narsaraopet in Guntur on Saturday, complaining of heart-related problems, the day the deadline for him to appear before the TS Anti Corruption Bureau ended.

The TS ACB had recently summoned Mathaiah in connection with the case. Since Mathaiah’s ailment coincided with the TS ACB’s deadline, officials suspect that it is a tactic to avoid appearing before the investigation officials.

Interestingly, Mathaiah’s supporters informed the media about his admission in a hospital much before communicating the news to the TS ACB.

In a health certificate issued by a doctor from the hospital, it was stated that Mathaiah needs bed rest for five to seven days. The health bulletin stated that Mathaiah is a heart patient.

In its notice issued last Saturday, Mathaiah was asked appear before the ACB investigation officials within a week.

The ACB had assured him that he would not be arrested because of a High Court order and he could bring along a lawyer with him.
