A GHMC official said 60 per cent of tax payers in Khairatabad were evading property tax payment.

The GHMC has managed to collect only Rs 71.55 crore as property tax from 1.02 lakh units. Officials said that in order to enhance the collection, they had decided to identify unauthorised structures, and levy super structure tax of 400 per cent of property tax or demolish them.

Officials said public representatives were not allowing the staff to identify illegal structures. The GHMC had decided to use drones, but the public representatives were hindering that too.
