Kochi: German pilgrims attend church fest

The women were thrilled to don the set and mundu, the traditional attire of Kerala.

KOCHI: The famed Kanjoor St Mary’s Forane Church in rural Ernakulam which is celebrating the festival of St Sebastian had some special guests on Saturday and Sunday.

The pilgrim guests were from Regensburg diocese at Bayern in Germany and had a great time donning the local costume and relishing the local delicacies amid religious fervour.

Fr Robin Parapurath, who is the vicar of the Vilsbiburg diocese and a member of the MSMFS congregation back in Germany, was the ‘guide’ for the visitors.
The 40-member pilgrim group with 14 women in it is in India visiting the important pilgrim centres. The women were thrilled to don the set and mundu, the traditional attire of Kerala.

The faithful of Kanjoor led by vicar Dr Joseph Kaniyamparambil who had gathered for the festival guided the guests through the festival. The team will return to Germany on January 27.
