Agri Gold: YSRC to exert pressure on government
Vijayawada: The YSRC demanded the state government to immediately implement the assurances given by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to the victims of Agri Gold scam. Victims of the scam run into 20 lakhs, hailing from various places in the state.
The YSRC, which had appointed an internal committee to study the scam, assured the victims of exerting pressure on the state government till it was resolved.
The YSRC internal committee members met on Saturday to discuss about the same. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, YSRC senior leader and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana said that of the 170 victims of the scam, who committed suicide, government paid ex-gratia only to two families. “It is avoiding paying ex-gratia to others on one or the other pretext.”
He reminded that the state government had issued a
GO fixing the ex gratia to the kin of the dead at Rs 5 lakh. The YSRC demanded enhancing the ex-gratia to Rs 10 lakh.
He suggested the government to conduct a field inspection and pay the ex-gratia, instead of insisting a post-mortem report which most of the families do not possess.
He also said that YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy borached the issue in the Assembly several times.
He accused the chief minister and others of eyeing the assets of Agri Gold and not cooperating with the Delhi-based Essel group in verifying the same, with an intention to take them over.
Satyanrayana added that high court had also chided the state government over non cooperation to Essel Group.
