Chennai: With agitated groups targeting train routes, and larger number of people pouring to the streets in support for Jallikattu, many train services were hit including the suburban system.
Passengers of Express, Mail, Passenger and suburban trains were distraught to find cancelled and delayed services. Franklin, a student from Coimbatore said: “I was stuck at Chennai Central station for about three hours due to the delay of Kovai Intercity Express. I was informed that delay was due to the protest for Jallikattu on railway tracks.”
Bus services were disrupted for over two hours with CMBT, the city’s bus terminus wearing a deserted look and some protestors sloganeering there.
“I have been waiting for a bus for the past one hour, not one has come,” said a commuter at Villivakkam.
