New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to defer by a week the pronouncement of its judgment on the validity of Centre’s notification allowing jallikattu with certain conditions, after the Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi made an oral request to that effect.
Citing the protests across the State for the last few days, Mr. Rohatgi told a Bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra “Your Lordship, because of the jallikattu issue there is immense problem. It has got nothing to do with the court. It is a societal unrest. The Centre and the state are in talks to find a way out in the matter and our request is that the judgment (reserved on December 7, 2016) may not be delivered.”
