Hyderabad: Fast-track courts in all dists

It may be noted, however, that the judiciary has not established district courts in the new districts created after the state bifurcation.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday transferred 11 judges to fast-track courts, thereby ensuring that such courts in all the districts have judges. The fast-track courts are meant to try cases of atrocities on women and children.

The appointments were made to the fast-track courts at Hydera-bad, Ranga Reddy, Adila-bad, Warangal, Mahbub-nagar, Nalgonda, Karim-nagar, Medak and Nizamabad districts. These had been vacant due to the non-availability of judges.

However, in the wake of recent incidents of attacks on women including the Samatha and the Disha cases, the judges were transferred to the fast-track courts from other courts.

It may be noted, however, that the judiciary has not established district courts in the new districts created after the state bifurcation. There-fore, the district court are working as per the earlier districts.

Elsewhere, the government established 36 fast-track special courts for expeditious trial and disposal of cases lodged regarding rape and the POCSO Act in all the districts. Law secretary A. Santosh Reddy issued an order on the proposal to establish fast-track special courts. In the 34 judicial districts, 36 courts were established. Khammam and Karimnagar will have two courts each.

Meanwhile, the government created 183 supernumerary posts in the High Court, ranging from record assistant to joint registrar. These posts were created to accommodate the Telangana High Court employees who were deputed to the AP High Court when it was established on January 1, 2019.
