Atmagourava Deeksha launched to make Guntur open defecation free

The Krishna district officials vowed to make the district open defecation free and participated in the Atmagourava Deeksha.

Vijayawad: The Krishna district officials vowed to make the district open defecation free and participated in the Atmagourava Deeksha launched on Tuesday. Collector B. Lakshmikantham, along with Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad, took part in the Deeksha which would continue for 21 days at Sitarama Gardens, Edupugallu, Kankipadu mandal.

The peoples' representatives, officials and the locals also participated in the Deeksha and vowed to make their localities open defecation free. The collector reminded the statement made by the Chief Minister about Swatcha Krishna programme on October 2, 2017. He said that they had constructed toilets in the gram panchayats, anganwadi schools and government schools, according to a plan. He has appealed to the people to utilise the toilets and avoid open defecation.

MLA Bode Prasad appreciated the officials for choosing Krishna district to implement the pilot project, as part of Aarogya AP. He said that he spent '40 lakh for building toilets in his constituency.
