Siddaramaiah owes his political rise to JD(S): HD Kumaraswamy

Kumaraswamy said the Chief Minister had no moral right to speak ill of the JDS when it had helped shape his political career.

Belagavi: Hitting out at CM Siddaramaiah for his recent statements against JD(S), its state president H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday asserted he had no right to speak ill of the party that he owed his rise in politics to.

Referring to Mr Siddaramaiah’s statement that he would not become Chief Minister again as the JDS would never return to power in the state, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Chief Minister had no moral right to speak ill of the JDS when it had helped shape his political career.

Warning the CM to mend his ways, Mr Kumaraswamy said he seemed to be high on power. “The Chief Minister, who claims to be the champion of backward classes, has miserably failed to protect their interests and also that of farmers in the state. The Siddaramaiah government did not come to the farmers' rescue even when the prices of onion and tur dal fell drastically,” he said, adding, “After his government's pathetic performance so far, it is unfortunate that the CM still dreams of winning 150 seats in the next assembly election.”

Revealing that he would tour North Karnataka from January 15 to 30 to revive its presence in the region, the JDS leader declared there would be no tie up with either the Congress or BJP in the next elections as his party was confident of winning at least 120 to 130 seats in the state to form the next government.
