Revanth Reddy has moved a PIL before the Hyderabad High Court.

Hyderabad: TS TD MLA A. Revanth Reddy has moved a PIL before the Hyderabad High Court, challenging the inaction of the state government in recovering damages from the Seed Companies for supply of spurious seeds and paying compensation to the effected farmers. He brought to the notice of the court that several farmers in the state have been facing severe hardships due to supply of spurious seeds. Mr Reddy said that some of the farmers even committed suicide due to crop loss caused due to spurious seeds and pointed out that the problem was rampant in Nalgonda and Khammam districts.

He submitted that cotton crop was damaged in thousands of acres in TS due to spurious seeds. Mr Reddy urged the court to direct the state government to take steps to confiscate properties of seed companies responsible for selling of spurious seeds by invoking Revenue Recovery Act and pay compensation to the farmers. He urged court to direct the government to book cases under the PD Act against the spurious seed companies.
