Hyderabad: The Telangana state Legislative Assembly on Monday witnessed uproarious scenes over “financial irregularities” in Nims. Opposition parties alleged siphoning of funds by officials and doctors in Nims and demanded an inquiry into the issue. However, the TS government refuted the allegations, saying that the irregularities took place during undivided AP regime, which the ACB had investigated and submitted a report to the government.
Health minister C. Laxma Reddy said, “The ACB report is being examined by the government. We will initiate stringent action against guilty officials and doctors.” Mr Reddy said there are no instances of any irregularities in Nims after TS was formed. “In fact, Nims got a facelift after TS was formed. We spent Rs 47 crore on modernisation of the hospital. Latest equipment was procured to offer best services to patients. We have started four new units and eight new courses in hospital,” he said.
Mr Reddy said the government has devised plans to build two new towers in Nims to offer outpatient services to cater to the growing demand. He informed that nine professors, 48 assistant professors and 100 staff nurses have been appointed, hospital beds increased to 1,500 from 1,140 and OP services increased to 2,500 from 1,500 patients. ICU beds have been increased to 100 from 40.
