Hyderabad: Fund shortage hits Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority

Hyderabad: The Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA), constituted for the overall development of the Old City about 35 years ago, is almost defunct due to acute shortage of funds. QQSUDA was constituted for the development of Old City through creation of infrastructure like sewerage, storm water drains, internal roads, hospital and schools.

It had jurisdiction over 11 assembly constituencies — Charmi-nar, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Chandrayangutta, Malakpet, Goshamahal, Karwan, Nampally, Jubilee Hills and parts of Mahesh-waram and L B Nagar. The QQSUDA existed for namesake in a dilapidated building at old MCH building complex at Darulshifa.

Sources in the QQSUDA said that given inadequate budgetary support, the authority was forced to execute works with funds released under MP Local Area Develop-ment Scheme and Assembly Constituency Development plan from Hyderabad MP and other MLAs.
