Cash crunch to ease, feels N Chandrababu Naidu
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday expressed confidence that the currency shortage will be mitigated soon as he expects the state to receive Rs 1,600 crore, including Rs 500 denomination notes on Wednesday. He recalled that state received Rs 2,500 crore including Rs 500 crore in Rs 500 denominations on Saturday. Addressing officials and bankers through a teleconference on Monday, Mr Naidu asked them to give priority to rural banks in cash distribution.
The officials informed the CM that Rs 2,500 cr received on Saturday was distributed to all banks. Mr Naidu advised the officials to prevent inconvenience to farmers as rabi season started. He said priority should be given to Dwcra women and NREGS workers in payment of cash. The Chief Minister directed the marketing officials to encourage cashless transactions in all rytu bazaars. He said free WiFi facility be provided in rytu bazaars.
Expressing satisfaction at increase in mobile banking transactions to 1.6 lakh, the CM said Fibre Grid work be speeded up to introduce cable, phone and internet facility for Rs 149 per month as it will help to increase cashless transactions. The CM said educated people should switch over to mobile and online banking transactions to make available the small currency to others. He said one village in a mandal and seven villages in a constituency should be developed as cashless transaction villages.
