Central Crime Branch team to question Fathima Latheef’s kin, pals

Fathima\'s father Abdul Latheef was also quizzed by the CCB team on Saturday to understand the events which led to the suicide.

Chennai: A team of Central Crime Branch police is in Kerala to question the relatives and friends of Fathima Latheef in connection with her suicide over alleged harassment by faculty.

Fathima Latheef, was a student of humanities at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras who was found dead in her hostel room on November 9. She had mentioned the names of three professors in a suicide note, allegedly found by Fathima's sister Aysha on her phone a day after her death.

A special team headed by Additional Commissioner of Police C Easwaramurthy, on Monday and Tuesday, questioned the three IIT Madras professors, Sudharsan Padmanabhan, Hemachandran Karah and Milind Brahmem who were all mentioned by Fathima in her suicide note. Fathima's father Abdul Latheef was also quizzed by the CCB team on Saturday to understand the events which led to the suicide.

Sources said the team in Kerala will question Fathima's sister and mother to get more information on what Fathima had shared with them on the harassment she faced for days before she ended her life.
