Many K T Rama Rao kin have accounts in Bank of Baroda
Hyderabad: Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, or KTR as he is popularly known, is one of the big five in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, and filed his nomination papers on Monday from Sircilla.
The Rao couple owns agricultural and commercial land across Medak, Shankarpally, Serillingampally, Shaikpet, Sircilla and Alwal. Many from the family seem to have accounts in the Bank of Baroda.
The outstanding liability of Ms Shailima Rao is Rs 27.39 crore. A large loan of Rs 7.58 crore is due to BoB, while another Rs 7 crore is due to one T. Sridhar, Rs 2 crore to a regional publication house and another Rs 4.5 crore to one P. Shailendra.
For the financial year 2017-18, Mr Rama Rao earned an income of Rs 59 lakh from his field produce and paid income tax of Rs 14.57 lakh. But his spouse, who is identified as a ‘business doer’, paid a whopping Rs 3.55 crore towards tax.
Mr Rama Rao has an MBA degree from New York University and an MSc (Biotech). He identifies himself as an agriculturalist and former minister, when in the previous election he had called himself a legislator.
In the category that requires mention of social media accounts, Mr Rama Rao, who is extremely active on twitter, with over 1.4 million followers, did not mention his official twitter handle, but he did list his Facebook account and a landline number as his contacts.
