Hyderabad: Parents submit PIL, seek hygienic food

The High Court has taken up the PIL based on a letter by parents to the Chief Justice.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has suo motto taken up a PIL on supplying of substandard food to students in schools at Ramaiahpatnam and Ulavapadu mandals in Prakasam district under the mid-day meal scheme.

The High Court has taken up the PIL based on a letter by parents to the Chief Justice stating that the mid-day meals provided by individual contractors and agencies are prepared in far off places and distributed to three different mandals.

The food also is bad as perishable vegetables and eggs are used to cook food.
They brought this to the notice of the Chief Justice that due to the supply of unhygienic food, students are suffering.

They urged the Chief Justice to intervene and direct the authorities to provide hygienic food.

The parents also urged the court to direct the state government and to check the standards of the individuals’ contractors / agencies that are given the contracts as per the norms.
