Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, the wife of a daily wage-earner and an-other woman he had illegally married together strangled him and set his body ablaze in Jagathgirigutta.
Police said G. Mahender had been harassing both his wives Jyothi and Padma for the past few years.
According to the police, Mahender, 45, a resident of Asbestos Colony, had five children from his marriages to Padma, 38, and Jyothi, 33. Mahender was an alcoholic and used to harass his family.
According to his children, a drunk Mahe-nder would often beat his wives severely. When they tried to stop him from beating their mothers, Mahender would push them away.
On Saturday night, he came home heavily drunk and picked up an argument with his elder son Uday Kiran and started beating him. The women tried to stop him, but he pushed them away and continued to beat the boy.
Fearing that he would beat the boy to death, the woman pounced on him and strangled him with a sari. When he fell down unconscious, they emptied a can of kerosene on him and set him ablaze, leading to his instant death.
A case of murder was registered and the women were taken into custody for inquiry. The women admitted before the cops that his torture was increasing which was affecting the kids as well, which forced them to take this extreme step.
