Note ban a bitter pill, good for nation: BJP

Purandeswari says party not favouring corporates.

Vijayawada: BJP national leader Daggupati Purandeswari rebutted criticism that the party was in favour of the corporate sector and non-responsive to the problems being faced by the common man with regards to demonetisation. Ms Purandeswari said that though there are problems at this time, the demonetisation decision will yield positive results for the nation in the near future.

“The Central government is ready to accept any suggestions from anyone, including Chandrababu Naidu, for the good of the public,” she told reporters here on Saturday. Ms Purandeswari said that there was nothing irregular behind the demonetisation decision and there was no need for any speculations. “Crackdown on black money will continue in phases. Already, 65 cases have come to light,” she said, emphasising that the Central government will not leave the wilful defaulters who owed Rs 7,000 crore to banks.

She said that the Centre was aware that the agriculture sector was facing a hard time due to demonetisation and said that the Union government will take all possible measures to mitigate the problems. Ms Purandeswari said that the BJP never promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in each account at the time of elections. “Modi said that the black money stashed in foreign banks, when bought back, will facilitate each person to deposit Rs 15 lakh in their account,” she said.

The former Union minister also said that the state will get all benefits that come with SCS in the special package announced to AP by the Centre. She said BJP chief Amit Shah will be visiting Tadepalligudem on November 26 as a part of the efforts to strengthens the BJP in the state.
