Accused in Marri Pravalika\'s Alleged Suicide Surrenders

Rathod claimed that he was preparing for civils and groups entrances and was innocent and falsely implicated in the case

Hyderabad: N. Shivaram Rathod, named as accused in the alleged suicide of Marri Pravalika last Friday, surrendered before the court on Friday. The court turned down his plea, stating that it had not found a prima facie case against him.

A Chikkadpally police team led by ACP A. Yadagiri then took Rathod into custody and took him for questioning and to produce him before the court for judicial remand.

Rathod claimed that he was preparing for civils and groups entrances and was innocent and falsely implicated in the case. Rathod was charged with abetting Pravalika suicide, based on their Whatsapp chats.

“After the court denied the surrender plea, we informed the court that police waiting outside might detain and harass him. In response, the court issued directions to the police to not ill treat him," his counsel B, Karthik Navayan told Deccan Chronicle.

He said that Rathod would challenge the orders and move a bail plea. Police said they were preparing to move a custody petition for further interrogation.

His family members appealed to the police not to harass Rathod; they were assured that he would be sent to judicial remand at the earliest.

Earlier, his family has moved the TS Human Rights Commission alleging that the police were harassing them.
