Nellore rural becomes a poll dilemma for TD
Nellore: All eyes are on the probable TD nominee for Nellore Rural assembly seat in view of TD's prospective candidate Adala Prabhakar Reddy's decision to contest for Nellore Lok Sabha seat.
Going by the indications from TD leaders, agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and urban development minister P. Narayana are likely to enter the fray from Nellore rural and City seats in the elections in 2019.
Though TD is keen on winning both Nellore city and rural seats in the district headquarters and is in search of strong candidates, the party leaders realise that there is no potential candidates in sight other than the two ministers to face the sitting YSRC legislators Dr P. Anilkumar Yadav (City) and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy (rural).
With their regular Pada Yatra's in their constituencies on one pretext or other, the two legislators have been strengthening their base to such an extent that it is not going to be easy for anyone to defeat them unless they are formidable candidates.
Urban development minister P. Narayana is already lobbying for Nellore City seat. Sources in TD said that Adala Prabhakar Reddy is keen on roping in minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy to contest Nellore rural.
The idea behind this is to ensure that the winning chances of the party candidate from Nellore. In fact, Somireddy was after Nellore rural seat during 2014 assembly elections but he was forced to move to Sarveypalli at the last minute whenr TD allocated rural seat to BJP as part of seat sharing understanding.
Notwithstanding his defeat then, Somireddy has been nurturing the Sarveypalli segment by spending lion's share of his time in the constituency to enter the fray once again in 2019.
