Former TTD chief joins Jana Sena
Hyderabad: The Central Zone Task Force Police seized Rs 60 lakh hawala money in Hyderabad, which is said to have been routed through hawala channels, from the driver of Telugu Yuvatha (TY) president, Vallabhaneni Anil. Deputy Commissioner of Police Task Force, Radhakishan Rao said that Anil intended to transport the amount to Jagtiyal district. Police suspects that the money was to be used during the assembly elections scheduled in December.
The arrested were identified as Pupalla Mahesh, 28 of Manikonda, Guman Singh Rajpurohit alias Guman Singh 63, Nepal Singh, 22, resident of Koti, Damuluri Srinivas Rao, 28 of Manikonda and Sirishilla Avinash, a 35 year old from Tarnaka.
“Anil instructed his driver Mahesh to deliver the amount to hawala agents Naresh who is the owner of Pooja Fashion at Koti and Sirishilla Avinash who is in the hawala trade. The duo are running a hawala business under the guise of money transfer business all over Telangana. Avinash organises illegal transfer of money by charging a commission between 0.6 per cent and 0.8 per cent,” said the DCP. Police which was following Mahesh in civilian clothes caught him along with the cash.
The money and the five persons who were caught were handed over to the income-tax department.
