Animal rights activist was attacked after her car rammed into a meat stall.

BENGALURU: With regard to the recent incident of a 45-year-old woman getting attacked by a mob for complaining to the police about illegal cattle slaughtering, the police have clarified that the attack was triggered after the woman rammed her SUV into an auto rickshaw and a meat stall. The police also said that they have arrested 13 people so far in connection with both the incidents.

The alleged incident took place on Saturday evening at Tipu Circle in Avalahalli in Thalaghattapura police station limits. The woman, a top executive in an MNC, had alleged that the police, who were accompanying her, fled after seeing the mob and left her to fend for herself. “First, the police received a complaint that cattle were illegally being kept at a slaughter house. Immediately, the inspector sent a team in Hoysala vehicle along with the complainant to identify the exact location. When the team went there, a huge crowd gathered and it was impossible for the staff on ground to take control of the situation. Thus, they reported the matter to the inspector, who directed them to come back. The team returned along with the complainant. Later, the inspector with a team of 10-12 staff went to the spot and rescued three cattle that were kept illegally. Till then the situation was under control,” said T. Suneel Kumar, Police Commissioner.

“After the police operation, Nandini, the complainant, and her friend went to the spot to check whether the police had rescued the cattle. No policeman was accompanying them this time. The woman rammed her vehicle to an auto rickshaw and a meat stall at the spot. More than 1,000 people gathered and pelted stones at her. She somehow managed to escape,” Kumar added. The police have arrested 13 people so far in connection with the assault and illegal cattle slaughtering cases. Meanwhile, a complaint is filed by one, Sabu, a local resident, about the alleged damage caused by the rash and negligent driving of an SUV by a woman, purportedly Nandini.
