Karnataka Administrative Tribunal quashes order cancelling KAS selection

The state government had cancelled the selection process in August 2014 following allegations of irregularities.

BENGALURU: In a relief to the candidates selected to the KAS posts of gazetted probationers (Group A and B) in the 2011 batch, the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Wednesday quashed the order of the state government cancelling the selection of 362 candidates made by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to the said posts.

The state government had cancelled the selection process in August 2014 following allegations of irregularities and corruption in KPSC by some candidates. A CID probe was also ordered into the allegation and eventually the state had cancelled the selections in the 2011 batch.

While quashing the state’s order cancelling the selection, the KAT has also directed it to issue appointment orders to the selected candidates. Earlier unsuccessful and dissatisfied candidates had approached the KAT challenging the KPSC selection. Later, the KAT had stayed the notification of the KPSC over selection of 362 candidates.

However, it later vacated the stay order citing that the selection would depend on the outcome of petitions questioning the selection process.
