Group-2 exams attract over 20,000 seniors

The craze for Group-2 services is such that even veterans aged above 50 years have applied for the written test.

HYDERABAD: The craze for Group-2 services is such that even veterans aged above 50 years have applied for the written test on November 11 and 13. Many over 40-years-old are in the race which is an indication of the immense craze for Group-2 services. There are over a thousand posts on offer including municipal commissioner (Grade-3), assistant commercial tax officer, sub-registrar (Grade-2) and extension officer (Panchayat Raj).

According to TSPSC, 40 candidates are above 50 years while 20,000 are in 40-49 age-group. They are government or private employees, ex-servicemen, physically handicapped or from SC, ST and BC communities. Notably, the government gave relaxations of ten years for physically handicapped, five years for existing government staff, three years for ex-servicemen and five years for SC, ST and BC candidates. With 18 years being the lower limit, 4,317 teenagers have also applied. The government has taken fool-proof measures to ensure that the exam goes of smoothly at all centres.
