GHMC to crack down on garbage

Those dumping waste in open places, roads and nalas will be fined, and for commercial establishments, trade licenses will be cancelled.

Hyderabad: To regularise solid waste management in the twin cities, the GHMC will ensure 100 per cent door-to- door collection of segregated solid waste from all households including slums and informal settlements, commercial, institutional and other non-residential premises.

Those dumping waste in open places, roads and nalas will be fined, and for commercial establishments, trade licenses will be cancelled.

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said, “The GHMC has decided that garbage should be segregated into wet and dry at the households itself so that it can be directly transferred to the dumping yards. Waste generated by horticulture and construction / demolition activities shall be collected separately and disposed as per the appropriate standards.”
