Congress hits out at Modi and K Chandrasekhar Rao
HYDERABAD: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday alleged that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were using the surgical strikes on terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as a tool for political gain. Addressing a Rajiv Sadbhavan Yatra at Charminar here, he said: “It is most unfortunate to know that the Prime Minister and his ministers were using the surgical strikes on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to get cheap publicity by putting up large flex-boards in Uttar Pradesh. They want to take political advantage out of even the sacrifices of our great soldiers.”
Slamming the BJP-led Union government for trying to divide the country in the name of religion, Mr Singh said the BJP had even changed the meaning of ‘secularism’ to suit its communal agenda. He said the attitude of the BJP was that whoever opposed them would be branded as anti-nationals.
Turning his criticism on Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for encouraging defections of Opposition MLAs into the TRS, Mr Singh said: “It was Rajiv Gandhi who brought the anti-defection law, but, unfortunately, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao has flouted the very spirit of the Act and is admitting several MLAs in his party. It is unfortunate that even courts are not intervening in this matter,”
