Bhadradri Power unit 1 is ready

Bhadradri Power Project is the first power project that was taken up by Telangana Genco after the formation of Telangana.

Kothagudem: Bhadradri Power Project, which is set up in Manuguru, crossed a milestone on Thursday.

The synchronisation of the first unit with a capacity of 270 MW in the BPP experiments that were done for the last three months made the synchronisation a total success.

Bhadradri Power Project is the first power project that was taken up by Telangana Genco after the formation of Telangana. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for the project on March 28, 2015.

The government allocated `8,500 crore for the 270 MWx4 units power capacity unit and Genco managing director Devulapalli Prabhakara Rao focused on the project and constantly interacted with the engineers.

The Bhadradri Power Project faced hiccups in the form of a case in the National Green Tribunal on the allegation that the project was being built by using sub-critical technology. As a result, the works were halted for 17 months. The rains also caused a delay for five months.

As per the details, the first boiler erection works started on March 11, 2017 and the hydraulic test was conducted to the Boiler drum on August 17, 2018. Turbo generator excavator works began on September 7, 2019 and boiler light up was done on March 25, 2019. The commercial operation date will be in October.
