Jayalalithaa panel poses queries to Raj Bhavan, CS
Chennai: Justice Arumugasamy commission, probing the circumstances leading to death of former chief minister J, Jayalalithaa, has posed several questions to Raj Bhavan and the chief secretary in connection with reports sent to Central Government on the condition of Jayalalithaa while she was under treatment in Apollo Hospital.
A week after IAS officer, Ramesh Chand Meena, the then principal secretary to the then acting Governor, CH Vidyasagar Rao, appeared before the Commission, the Commission secretary posed several question to the Raj Bhavan to file its reply.
The commission asked the Raj Bhavan as to how many reports received from state government and Apollo hospital on health condition of Jaya while she treated in hospital. Whether such reports, if received, were submitted to the then Governor. If so whether he filed any reply. After visiting the Apollo hospital did Governor sent any report on the status of Jaya's health to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi?
Similarly, in questions posed to Girija Vaidyanathan, chief secretary, the commission has directed her to file reply on question as to whether the five-member committee, formed to monitor the health condition of the Jayalalithaa, submitted any report to the state government. If the committee had not submitted any report, whether action taken against the committee was taken for dereliction of duty.
Whether department of health submitted any report to the council of ministers, whether the then chief secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao sent any report to the Central government or to state government or to Governor or to the then Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on the status of the Jayalalithaa's health.
The commission has also directed Apollo Hospital chief operating officer Subbiah Viswatthan to appear before the commission on September 25 again to surrender of CCTV camera footages from the hospital. On September 6, the commission directed the CEO to surrender CCTV footages from the hospital. However, CEO, on September 11, replied that footages of CCTV cameras installed in the hospital premises are saved in the servers only from one month to 45 days. After that period new footages would replace the old.
However, not satisfied with the reply the commission directed the CEO to appear before the Commission on September 25.
