Hyderabad: Osmania General Hospital to shift to safe place
Hyderabad: Arrangements are being made to completely vacate the dilapidated and crumbling heritage building and relocate the patients to the safer non-heritage buildings of the Osmania General Hospital, stated the superintendent of the hospital.
Presently, only the first and ground floor of the hospital have patients.
The hospital has been in the news for several months now, with the state of its dilapidated building, the fear of its patients, and the protests of its doctors grabbing newspaper headlines. Finally, the move to shift patients out of the heritage building has brought considerable relief to all concerned.
The consultant of World Health Organisation Dr Bobby John visited the hospital along with Dr Jitendra Singh, general secretary of United Resident Doctors Association.
Dr Nagendra said, “The visit was not official and it was only in tourist capacity. We have not discussed about the state of the building with them as this is a state subject only.
“We are following up with the authorities and are working towards alternative arrangements till the decision to construct the new building is taken up,” he said.
