Hyderabad High Court raps Deecet convener

The bench asked the convener to show cause as to why Rs 1 lakh costs should not be imposed on him for failing to implement the order.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday pulled up the convener of Deecet (Diploma in Elementary Education Common Entrance Test) for not implementing a court order.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice T. Rajani was dealing with a contempt case against Mr Ch. Ramana Rao, Deecet convener, for not giving admission to the petitioner despite a court order.

The bench asked the convener to show cause as to why Rs 1 lakh costs should not be imposed on him for failing to implement the order.

Ms Batthula Padma, an aspirant, moved the court questioning the notification issued by the convener for admission into the course. The bench in August had directed the convener to admit the petitioner as per her rank in the test.

When authorities failed to give admission, the petitioner moved the contempt case against the convener and others.

Earlier, when the bench directed the presence of the convener, the official appeared in court and said that Ms Padma had been admitted in the course. When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, the bench made it clear that the officials had to adhere to the orders of the court.

The bench posted the case for a week.
