Hyderabad: The GHMC has geared itself up for the Muharram procession and the Ganesh idol immersion celebrations which fall on different dates. Corporation commissioner Mr M. Dana Kishore said the corporation would arrange mobile toilets, deploy expert swimmers, 10 special boats, 70,000 lights, 35 immersion points, 117 static cranes, 150 mobile cranes, 150 transformers and arrange for distribution of 30 lakh water packets.
He instructed police to ensure foolproof arrangements to avoid untoward incidents. He asked electricity, the GHMC and other departments to work in tandem.
About 2,500 idols have been immersed in the Hussainsagar and 12,000 idols are expected on nimajjanam day.
Mr Kishore said the GHMC had filled about 10,000 potholes and had spent Rs 15 crore to repair 88 km of roads on the procession routes.
Mr Kishore and Hyderabad police commissioner inspected the 18-km procession route from Balapur to Tank Bund and the Muharram procession route.
