Two Hyderabad businessmen rescued from drowning off Marina beach

They had visited their sister Dhanalakshmi staying with her family in Chennai after which they went to the beach.

Chennai: Police on Monday rescued two businessmen from Hyderabad from drowning in the sea off Marian beach on Monday evening. The duo, identified as Ramana (35) and Narendra (29), are brothers and on vacation in Chennai.

They had visited their sister Dhanalakshmi staying with her family in Chennai after which they went to the beach. Around 4 pm, they were playing in the waters behind the Labour statue when they were engulfed by a giant wave.

Their family members raised an alarm following which police personnel rushed to the scene. The duo were rescued and treated at the Government hospital nearby. While Ramana was treated as an outpatient, Narendra was admitted to the GH as he consumed seawater.

City police commissioner A. K. Viswanathan commended the two armed reserve police constables Ramanan and Vinoth Kumar for rescuing the duo in time.
