Osmania University hostel for disabled students
Hyderabad: A hostel for physically disabled students will be constructed at Osmania University (OU) with funds from University’s centenary celebration budget. Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandram has also announced that a convocation ceremony will be conducted after four years to award degrees to 1,600 PhD students.
OU has received an A+ grade from the National Assessment and Accre-ditation Council (NAAC), and it is preparing to be recognised as an Insti-tution of eminence.
Prof. S. Ramachandram said, “As part of the centenary celebrations, we are spending Rs 72 crore of the Rs 200 crore allotted by the government for the construction of new hostels.
A hostel for physically challenged students with a capacity of 100 boarders will be built on Osmania University campus. We have observed that disabled students are having difficulties, so we have planned an exclusive hostel with special toilets for them.” The Vice-Chancellor asked students who are not official boarders to vacate the hostels.
