Hyderabad: There are some GHMC staff who believe in appeasing ‘babas’ hoping this will help them retain their positions.
The Alwal division section officers, including the assistant city planner, visited a baba recently hoping this would help them avoid a transfer in the recent shuffling done by the Municipal head office. A bag filled with prayer tablets was given to the officers to hang at the entrance of the GHMC Alwal office. The officers sought the help of the baba following complaints lodged by the GHMC higher officials against the four .
Enquiries were ordered by the GHMC head office against three section officers and an assistant city planner, following complaints of corruption. Sadly the baba could not save them as all four were transferred.
The bag holding the baba’s remedies now hangs at the entrance of the Alwal division office along with a horseshoe.
A source said, “The four were given a bag consisting of a talisman, coconut, scripts in Urdu and directed them to hang it at their office. However, the ‘lucky charms’ didn’t work in their favour, as four days later all four were transferred.”
The ACP was transferred to Bhupalapally, a section officer of Khammam. The remaining officers were moved to city circles.
