Chrysostom docu turns a Guinness feat
PATHANAMTHITTA: The admirers of 'humour king' Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan can now savour a record-breaking documentary, '100 years of Chrysostom,' made by eminent filmmaker Blessy. It has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the longest documentary with its duration of 48 hours and 8 minutes.
The celebrations of its entry into the Guinness record were held at SCS school ground at Thiruvalla here on Monday. V. Muraleedharan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, inaugurated the function.
It took at least two years for Blessy to produce the documentary on the 102-year-old longest-serving bishop in India after commencing the work on May 1, 2015. It consists of four segments. '100 Celebrities vs a Legend' shows Chrysostom's interactions with 100 celebrities. 'Walking with Chrysostom' is a collection of 100 ministry speeches. '100 Years of Chrysostom' portrays the history of Christianity in Kerala. 'Golden Words & Classic Lines' contains his quotes and conversations with 100 artists.
His interactions feature eminent personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, actors Mohanlal and Mammootty, litterateurs M.T. Vasudevan Nair and O.N.V. Kurup, sound designer Resul Pookkutty and singer Yesudas.
The documentary has broken the record of 'World of Snakes,' a 21-hour-long documentary from Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Chrysostom, Emeritus Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, was born on April 27, 1918 at Eraviperoor in Pathanamthitta. He was consecrated in May 1952. He is also the winner of the Padma Bhushan award in 2018.
