Visakhapatnam: Majority of stakeholders have stated that it’s not easy to find parking space for vehicles in several areas in the city. In addition to the huge rush of vehicles, encroachments leave hardly any space for parking, they told teh Traffic Advisory Committee on Saturday.
Collector Pravin Kumar said parking lots cannot be built immediately but plans are afoot to initiate key projects such as multi layer parking and flyover at NAD.
He urged the stakeholders such as Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, HPCL and NHAI, to support the initiatives designed by the enforcement agencies. He also asked the PSUs to set up parking lot for trucks.
Some people said that the bus rapid transport system was not serving the purpose.
and urged the authorities concerned to see that the public transport system functions better. Some complained that most of the shopping complexes were not adhering to the norms of providing adequate cellar parking.
