Hyderabad: Minister K.T. Rama Rao is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Balanagar crossroad- Narsapur crossroad flyover at 3 pm on August 21.

The day happens to be Amavasya, when Telugus generally avoid starting projects. The day will also see a solar eclipse in the US.

When it is completed, the flyover is expected to benefit lakhs of commuters travelling from Secunderabad, Bowen-pally, Balanagar, Sana-thnagar, Kukatpally, Chintal and Jeedimetla.

This is the first big fly-over project being taken up by the urban body in Telangana state after bifurcation.

According to Mr Dronamraju Ravi Kumar, president of the All India Brahmins Federation youth wing, the flyover will benefit lakhs of people and government needs to chose an auspicious muhurat to start the work.

Mr Vemuri Suryana-rayana Sharma, former lecturer in astrology, Telugu University, said the project would be besieged with problems if the foundation stone was laid at an inauspicious time.

It is known that Mr Rama Rao does not involve himself too deeply in religious beliefs and activities.
