Buddha project in Ghantashala

Earlier the collector discussed about the project with joint collector Gandham Chandrudu and tourism executive director Mallikarjuna Rao.

Vijayawada: The Maha Pariniryana Budhha project would be established in Ghantashala, Krishna district, at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

District collector B. Lakshmikantham released the model of the Maha Pariniryana Budhha project at his camp office here on Saturday evening.

Earlier, the collector discussed about the project with joint collector Gandham Chandrudu and tourism executive director Mallikarjuna Rao.

The Sayana Budhha statue, measuring 100-feet long and 15-feet high, would be set up in Ghantashala, as part of developing tourism in the district, the collector said.

The statue would be placed above a two-storeyed building, he explained.

A facility will be created for the Buddhist monks for Dhyana and other Budhhist related activities, the collector said and added that a library would be developed with Budhhist literature and history.

He said that the project is expected to be completed by Buddha Jayanti, next year, and added that celebrations are also planned by that time. Joint Collector-2 Markandeyulu, DRO M. Venugopala Reddy, RDOs S. Hareesh, P. Saibabu and Ch. Rangaiah were also present in the meeting.
