Telangana: Two cops probing EAMCET case suspended for taking bribe from suspect
Hyderabad: In a new twist to the Eamcet question paper leak case, Telangana state DGP Anurag Sharma has suspended two cops including a deputy superintendent of police on a charge of extortion of money from a suspect.
The cops forcibly took Rs 1 lakh from one of the Eamcet-2 accused Gum-madi Venkatesh and demanded one more lakh in order to let him escape, it was stated.
Senior officials have started an inquiry into the allegations against DSP Balu Jadhav posted in Warangal district and head constable A. Sadashiva Rao, who was seen to have manipulated the investigation process after taking the bribe money.
“It has come to our notice that DSP Balu Jadhav and head constable A. Sadashiva Rao have exhibited gross misconduct by extorting one lakh rupees and demanding one more lakh from a suspect involved in the Eamcet-2 question paper. Disciplinary proceedings against them are contemplated,” said Mr Sharma in an official order.
He and the head constable made a secret agreement with a broker to have him excluded from the case. CID DIG Ravi Varma said, “A departmental inquiry is ongoing to verify the allegations.”
