Dead SI Ramakrishna Reddy's kin seek fair probe
Hyderabad: Family members of SI Ramakrishna Reddy who committed suicide said that they will fight for a fair inquiry in the case till they get justice. His elder brother Lachi Reddy found fault with the Police Department saying the case instead of being booked as an abetment to suicide has been recorded as suspicious death. The family members said that their fight will continue to ensure that no other officer falls prey to such har-assments. Ramakrishna was a good painter and was selected for the army as a painter- cum-soldier.
Police said that it is inquiring into the suicide note and the allegations of the cash transactions. His relatives said that the Police are spreading rumours that the SI was addicted to alcohol and was depressed. “If he was drunk and depressed, how would he have written such a long suicide note with figures, names and timings of incidents.” questioned his brother-in-law Buchi Reddy.
His elder brother said that Ramakrishna was a straight forward person, adding that when he demanded of the Medak SP to register a case under section 306 IPC for abetment to suicide, he was told that any alterations will be done during investigation. One of the officers told Lachi Reddy it was okay to be straight forward in the army. With that attitude, Ramakrishna could not cope with the corruption in the department.
“They are accepting the fault. Siddipet DSP, known for his corruption in the area, has been there for more than five years,” Mr Lachi Reddy said. Mr Ram Reddy, his younger brother-in-law said that with the officers who are facing allegations in the case, they cannot expect justice. “Police should inquire in all the locations he worked and also about the officers whom he named,” Ramreddy said.
