Chandrababu Naidu tries to take credit for P V Sindhu's show

Mr Naidu lamented that though Common Wealth games were held in India, they were not held in Hyderabad.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made an attempt to take credit for badminton player P.V. Sindhu’s performance at Rio Olympics. While explaining about the sports infrastructure at the AMTZ investors summit held here on Friday, Mr Naidu said, “Between 1995 and 2004, our government has created one of the best sports infrastructure at Hyderabad. I have given an institute of excellence to Pullela Gopichand and now he is producing world-class players. He had produced three Olympic medal winners.”

Mr Naidu added that he was always ahead of times. “In Hyderabad, I created the best sports infrastructure. Nobody is getting awards internationally or Olympic games that is not the mistake of our nation. It is only because we are unable to visualise the need and create the best infrastructure. At that time, I created the best sports infrastructure in Hyderabad. At Gachibowli, we conducted one of the best National Games. On the basis of that, Afro-Asian games came to Hyderabad. We conducted it better than the National Games.” The Chief Minister observed that if the right infrastructure is created and encouraged best sportspersons can be produced from the state.
