Rahul Gandhi to Take Treatment at Kerala's Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will seek treatment at the century-old institution Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala in Malappuram district of Kerala.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Kottayam on Thursday to attend the funeral of former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy at St George Orthodox Church. Though he was scheduled to reach the Arya Vaidya Sala on Thursday evening after attending the funeral, owing to the delay the plan had to be postponed.

The Congress leader will now reach the Arya Vaidya Sala on Friday. The treatment will be under the supervision of Managing Trustee Madhavan Kutty Warrier. He will be at the Arya Vaidya Sala till July 29.

AICC general secretary K C Venugopal will accompany Rahul to the Arya Vaidya Sala. There are reports that Priyanka Gandhi will also arrive at the Arya Vaidya Sala two days later.

It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi had experienced excruciating knee pain during the Kerala leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He later disclosed during an interaction with Congress workers that at one point the knee pain became so unbearable that there was uncertainty about continuing the yatra.

At that time AICC general secretary K C Venugopal had told media persons that even Priyanka Gandhi had called up expressing concern over Rahul’s knee problem.

However, with the help from a physiotherapist which Rahul himself suggested, he completed the yatra. The yatra had covered a distance of over 4000 km in 136 days across 75 districts, 12 states and two union territories. Rahul Gandhi walked every day.
