Thiruvananthapuram: The police on Friday recovered the knife R. Sivarenjith, former president of University College unit of SFI, used to stab Akhil Chandran, another student, from the waste dumped inside the college near the spot of the crime. The recovery was made on inspection after bringing Sivarenjith and A.N. Naseem, former secretary of the SFI unit, to the campus.

The police also collected evidence from the campus after the accused confessed to hiding the knife after the crime, according to police sources.

The accused gave a statement that the knife was purchased from an online shopping site. The police also recovered sticks and two iron pipes from inside the campus.

Last week, an eight-member team allegedly stabbed Akhil who was also a member of the SFI and injured two others of the college.

The police has filed two other cases against Shivarenjith for the theft of answer sheets from the college and also for making the fake seal of the physical education director.

Meanwhile, after the decision of the collegiate education director not to allow examination centes for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination and the Kerala Public Service Commisison at the University College till further orders, the authorities have decided to change the venue for assistant grade 2 test (housing board) of the PSC scheduled for Saturday from here.
