Nellore: People who were waiting eagerly to register their names online to witness the historical launch of India’s second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-II from Launch View Gallery at Shar, Sriharikota, were deeply disappointed as the registration closed within half an hour after opening it on Friday evening.

Isro opened the online registration (isro.gov.in) at 6 pm on Friday and it displayed that registration was full for those who tried to register their names after 6.15 pm.

At 7.40 pm the website was displaying that it temporarily unavailable and would be back online shortly. Incidentally, the website run by world famous space research organisation was also down after 4,000 people registered when it was opened for the recently aborted Chandrayaan-II Mission scheduled for July 15.

It was restored after a long gap of 8 hours and 3,000 more registered then.

In all, as many as 7,100 people from different par-ts of the country registered online to watch the historical mission originally scheduled for July 15 and all of them returned disappointed as the late night mission was aborted due to a technical snag.

The launch has now been been rescheduled to Monday July 22, 2.43 pm IST. The visitors have shown a lot of enthusiasm to be present in Shar as they can view the launch from this gallery in real time with naked eyes.

Large screens are also placed to visually explain the various intricacies of launcher and satellites.

In addition, pre and post launch activities will be telecast and explained through these screens to the viewers.

Meanwhile, a Rocket Garden and Space Museum are also coming up.
