Moderate rain across Telangana as monsoon regains vigour

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning at isolated places over the next couple of days.

Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon has regained its vigour and has become normal over Telangana state, the Indian Meteorological Department said. Under its influence, most districts received moderate to heavy rain on Friday.

Some areas in districts like Nalgonda, Mahbubabad and Nirmal received heavy rainfall. Nalgonda recorded 333 per cent excess rainfall on Friday — the district received 16.9 mm rainfall against normal rainfall is 3.9 mm. There were no reports of any rain-related damage.

The IMD had earlier declared that the rainfall would improve towards the last week of July. Farmers in the state badly need the rain even as the monsoon has recorded a 38 per cent deficit.

Weather experts said that heavy rainfall would start from the last week of July and would be distributed to all over the state in August.

The city remained cloudy and a few areas experienced drizzles during the day. Some areas recorded rain at night. The maximum and minimum temperature stood at 35ºC and 25ºC. degrees respectively.
